UAE, Russian Foreign Ministers to Visit Ethiopia

Foreign Ministers of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia will visit Ethiopia aiming at strengthening the bilateral cooperation between the respective countries, Spokesperson Meles Alem said.

In his weekly briefing to local journalists today, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Meles Alem said Ethiopia had first-class ties with both UAE and Russia and would like boost it.

Mentioning that UAE is one of the Gulf countries with whom Ethiopia has a strong cooperation, the Spokesperson pointed out "this will be a platform for both countries to further enhance their existing relations."

Co-operation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed on his visit will confer with Ethiopian counterpart Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu. 

The three day Ethio-UAE joint commission meeting will also be held from March 5-7, 2018 to deliberate on the technical and ministerial meetings.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's visit as well is aimed at bolstering the 120 old cordial bilateral relationships and taking it to the next level, he added.

The effective implementation of the agreements signed between Ethiopia and Russia will also be reviewed during the visit.

In related news, the Spokesperson revealed that Ethiopia has registered remarkable achievements over the last six months in economic diplomacy especially, attracting anchor companies, increasing tourist flow, creating global market link as well as technological transformation.

Accordingly, some 158 foreign companies, most of which are from Asia and Oceania, have started operation and business ties have been facilitated for 41 domestic companies to enable them to work with oversees business firms. 

Towards realizing increased flow of tourists, the ministry has facilitated in selecting 21 global tour operators to include the country's tourist attractions in their tour packages and is planning to have a familiarization trip in three countries.

Technology transfer mainly in the areas of agriculture, engineering, construction, health, agro-processing and manufacturing industry, it was learned.
