Ethiopian, Russian FMs exchange congratulatory messages
Ethiopian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu and his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, have exchange congratulatory messages, marking the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"The past 120 years of diplomatic relations have been a period of consistent friendship fruitful partnership," said Dr Workneh.
"We have full confidence that this historic 120th anniversary would serve as an excellent opportunity to recommit ourselves to work towards a much more dynamic and all-encompassing partnership in the years to come," he added.
Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, for his part described the relations between the two countries as "multifaceted and deeply rooted."
The ties between the two countries are currently grounded successfully on a foundation of strong traditions of friendship and mutual respect, reciprocal interest in deepening cooperation in trade, economy, humanitarian and other areas, he said
"We appreciate a high level of mutual understanding in the international arena, unchanged commitment to take into account each other interests based on similar perception of global development and consonant approaches to addressing most pressing problems of our time," he added.
Lavrov further said that "time proved partnership between Ethiopia and Russia will continue to strengthen for the benefit of our countries in order to ensure peace and stability on the African continent."
