Attention would be given for protection of human rights during implementation of State of Emergency: deputy gov’t whip
Prime attention would be given for the protection of human rights during the implementation of the six-month State of Emergency, said Amanuel Abrham, deputy government whip.
He told FBC yesterday that the State of Emergency Inquiry Board, which was established to follow the implementation of the decree, has drawn lessons from the previous state of emergency and global practices.
Accordingly, there would be no fear of human rights violation, he said. The State of Emergency is appropriate given the current situation in the country.
The House of People's Representatives (HPR) yesterday approved the State of Emergency declared by the Council of Ministers on February 16, 2018.
The State of Emergency was declared to protect the constitution and the constitutional order, it was noted.
